The purpose of the planning committee for the Minnesota Water Resources Conference is to assist in guiding the formation of the conference, including the identification of keynote topics and speakers, develop concurrent session topics, solicit abstracts, organize workshop topics and speakers, serve as moderators at the conference, and overall be informed and contribute ideas about current issues in the content areas of the conference.
Planning committee structure
Committee members are selected to attain a broad representation of the water resource profession. There are six types of positions on the conference planning committee, three of which are appointed and three of which are elected:
Appointed positions
- UMN Water Resources Center (WRC) and Academia - Appointed by the director of the WRC or their designee. (Up to eight seats)
- State or Federal Government Agency - Appointed by their agency. (Up to ten seats)
- Minnesota Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) - Appointed by the MN Section of the ASCE board. (One seat)
Elected positions
- Private Sector (Up to eight seats)
- Local Government (Up to three seats)
- At-Large (Up to three seats)
